Check out the NEW, Emerson 50

For nearly two decades, RYA has been dedicated to preserving the roots of Rocket Yoga while evolving the practice. We have been softly rebranding to Emerson yoga over the past 5 years to differentiate between trademarked rocket yoga and our own brand based on 26 years experience instructing rocket yoga to the masses.

This summer, we are excited to offer Emerson 50 — an advanced continuing education yoga training designed for yoga instructors and dedicated practitioners ready to deepen their understanding of Rocket Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, hands-on assisting, and creative sequencing.

Taking place June 26th–30th in Cincinnati, Ohio at Yoga Ah Studio, this immersive 50-hour yoga continuing education program is inspired by the original Rocket Yoga teacher trainings, while offering a more comprehensive and modern approach to movement education and teaching methodology.

Led by Amber Jean, Emerson 50 combines over twenty-six years of teaching experience, international workshops, and decades of working with thousands of yoga teachers through 200-hour and advanced yoga training

This training is rooted in the foundations of classical Ashtanga Yoga while expanding into the creativity, accessibility, and freedom that Rocket Yoga is known for. Students will begin with a review of traditional Ashtanga principles and then dive deeply into Rocket Yoga sequencing, transitions, inversions, modifications, assists, and intelligent cross-training techniques.

One of the goals of Emerson 50 is to help teachers learn how to make advanced and challenging poses more accessible for real students in real bodies. Rather than focusing only on performance, this training explores how to teach safely, creatively, and effectively while still honoring the energetic spirit of Rocket Yoga.

Throughout the five-day immersion, students will explore:

Classical Ashtanga Yoga review

Rocket Yoga sequencing and methodology

Cross-training techniques for inversions and arm balances

Intelligent mobility and strength work

Hands-on assists and therapeutic adjustments

Accessible approaches to advanced postures

Creative sequencing and class development

Teaching methodology and confidence building

Breathwork, philosophy, and energetic practices

How to create your own Rocket-inspired classes

This Cincinnati Rocket Yoga training is ideal for yoga teachers looking to expand their offerings, refine their teaching skills, and reconnect to the roots of authentic Rocket Yoga while learning modern tools for longevity and accessibility.

Emerson Yoga has always been about honoring lineage while allowing the practice to evolve. The Emerson 50 training reflects that philosophy — blending the intensity and creativity of Rocket Yoga with intelligent movement education, therapeutic understanding, and decades of real-world teaching experience.

Emersons Rocket Vinyasa

Emersons Rocket Vinyasa

5 Day Training
50 hours
With Amber Jean who studied the Rocket with Larry from 2000-2011 and developed Advanced Teacher Training at her studio in Cincinnati, Yoga ah. Originally the Rocket was part of Larry’s 200 hour training. In this “get you there faster format” we will review the 200 hour material and focus on understanding how to safely sequence more advanced Vinyasa and Ashtanga yoga classes. Amber makes Rocket yoga fun and accessible as she has been instructing some of her students Rocket Yoga for 20 years. Yoga is meant to be therapeutic, and help you study yourself so you can improve different aspects of your life. It's also meant to be fun, Larry was the king of bringing humor into his classes. He was known as the “bad man” and he believed that you had to stay connected to the practice for many, many years to experience all the benefits of having an Ashtanga based practice. After all Pattabi Jois told Larry that “all is coming 25 years”.

Rocket Yoga London 2021

The It’s Yoga Royal Family

May the circle be unbroken by and by lord by and by…..

Amme Poulton and I are the oldest women students that trained directly with Larry Schultz we have a combined experiences over 40 years in the Schultz Rocket System. The circle continues with us and these valuable trainings and to the students we share the Rocket!

Larry Schultz had this amazing quality to bring people together, we would joke about our float ups into handstands and arm balances and give them a mystical quality that we attributed to Larry because when Larry entered the room he lightened the atmosphere. Larry could defuse situations with simple words and make us all look inside ourselves more deeply. Often after our teachers training was complete we would want to stay in San Fransisco to be close to Larry and the yoga, this was how the Royal family came to be. Amme and I were a part of this Royal yoga family and for whatever reason our loyalty was unbroken over the years which turned into decades. So Amme and I knew of each other and walked the temple walls sharing in the same breath in the yoga practices, going to the same yoga parties and sharing the same love for Larry, however we never spoke until just recently in this past year. I knew Amme was in London and she had heard of me too and time did a funny thing and brought us back together almost 20 years later. Thats pretty much how it happened and before I knew it I was on a plane heading to England to facilitate a 5 day Rocket Training at Tri Yoga, one of the oldest schools in London and Amme was going to be my host and assistant. I have to laugh to myself when I think of the owner Jhonathan asking us over lunch how long we knew each other and we both smiled and said this is actually the first time we met but we have KNOWN of each other for two decades! That is the crazyest thing about the Royal family is that if you are in it, there is an unspoken trust and alliance within Larry’s students.

This was the 2nd Larry Schultz approved Rocket Training that was run by all women in London. The first time was in 2018, also facilitated by me.

What happened over the 5 days is all part of the formality of Rocket Training. For me what I loved about London the most is the caliber of students who take practicing yoga very seriously and schedule their life around it. I loved all the students who took the course and formed what I hope to be life long relationships. We had lots of exotic places represented, like Maldives and Malita. We shared a lot of laughs and a lot of breaths. England feels like my second home and I am looking forward to returning. It was a true Rocket blessing to be back working with the Royal family and I am always amazed about how powerful this practice is…. just keep doing the yoga everyone and everything will sort itself. Much Rocket Love, Amber Jean-Marie
